Right to Information at JDN Assessment Certifications

The Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI Act) is a landmark legislation enacted by the Parliament of India to promote transparency and accountability in the functioning of public authorities. As a body constituted under the Quality Council of India — a Ministry of Commerce & Industry initiative — JDN Assessment Certifications is a public authority under the RTI Act and is legally obligated to provide information to citizens upon request.

JDN Assessment Certifications welcomes RTI applications and is committed to responding promptly, accurately, and completely. We believe that transparency strengthens public trust in our certification processes and upholds the integrity of India’s quality infrastructure.

Statutory Obligation

Under Section 4 of the RTI Act, JDN Assessment Certifications proactively discloses a wide range of information. Citizens may file applications under Section 6 for any additional information not already in the public domain.

JDN Assessment Certifications has maintained a 100% on-time RTI response rate for the past three consecutive years. All applications are acknowledged within 2 working days.

Note on Regional Officers

RTI applications regarding certifications handled by regional offices (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru) should be addressed to the CPIO at the Head Office who will transfer them to the appropriate regional CPIO if required under Section 6(3) of the RTI Act.

How to File an RTI Application

You may file an RTI application through any of the following modes. There is no prescribed format, but your application must clearly specify the information you seek.

Prepare Your Application

Write your application in English or Hindi (or in the official language of the area). Clearly describe the information you need. You are not required to give any reason for your request. Include your full name, address, and contact details.

Pay the Prescribed Fee

The application fee is ₹10. BPL card holders are fully exempt. Payment may be made via:

Submit Your Application

Choose your preferred submission mode — online using the form below, by post to the CPIO at our Head Office, or in person at any JDN Assessment Certifications office during working hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM).

Receive Acknowledgement

You will receive an acknowledgement with a unique RTI Reference Number within 2 working days. Use this number to track the status of your application.

Get Your Response

The CPIO is legally required to respond within 30 days of receipt (or 48 hours if the matter concerns life or liberty). If information relates to a third party, the CPIO may take up to 40 days.

No Fee for Delayed Response

If the CPIO fails to respond within 30 days, information must be provided free of charge. Additionally, the CPIO may be penalised ₹250 per day of delay (up to ₹25,000) under Section 20 of the RTI Act.

Fee Payment: A fee of ₹10 is required. After submitting this form, you will receive payment instructions. BPL applicants should upload their BPL card in the documents field. Cheques and DDs should be drawn in favour of “JDN Assessment Certifications” payable at New Delhi.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can file an RTI application with JDN Assessment Certifications?
Any Indian citizen can file an RTI application. There is no requirement to prove citizenship. Non-residents of Indian origin (NRIs) may also apply. However, the RTI Act does not extend to foreigners.
Do I need to give a reason for my RTI request?
No. Under Section 6(2) of the RTI Act, applicants are not required to give any reason for seeking information. The CPIO cannot reject an application simply because no reason was provided.
Can JDN Assessment Certifications refuse to provide information?
Yes, under specific circumstances. Sections 8 and 9 of the RTI Act exempt certain categories of information including information affecting national security, personal privacy of third parties, cabinet papers, information in a fiduciary capacity, and information that would endanger the life or physical safety of any person. If information is denied, the CPIO must provide written reasons citing the specific exemption.
What happens if JDN Assessment Certifications does not respond within 30 days?
If no response is received within 30 days, the CPIO is deemed to have refused the request. You may then file a First Appeal with the FAA. Additionally, the CPIO may be penalised by the CIC at ₹250 per day of delay (maximum ₹25,000). Information must then be provided free of charge.
Can I track the status of my RTI application?
Yes. Online applications submitted through this portal receive a unique RTI Reference Number. You can track the status by emailing cpio@isocertindia.gov.in or calling 011-2345-6780 during office hours.
Can I ask for certified copies of documents?
Yes. You may request certified copies of any official documents held by JDN Assessment Certifications, subject to the applicable exemptions. The cost is ₹2 per A4 page, payable in advance. Certified copies will be attested by the CPIO.
How long does JDN Assessment Certifications retain RTI records?
RTI applications and responses are retained for a minimum of 5 years in accordance with the Government of India records retention schedule. After 5 years, records may be weeded as per the Public Records Rules, 1997.
